These hounds are very active and enthusiastic. They possess very strong hunting instincts. They tend to take and follow an interesting scent and may become inattentive to the owner’s commands. Therefore, it is very important to socialize and train them properly from the early age. A fenced yard is a requirement with this breed. They should not be left unattended for long periods, because they will chew on everything, dig the flowerbeds and bark.

These dogs are sturdy, squarely built small scenting hounds. They look like small English Foxhounds. They have a short and sleek coat, which may come in tri-color, red and white, orange and white, or lemon and white colors. Their short coat is easy to groom, but they shed twice a year, like all other dogs. In temperament, these hounds are extremely sociable, courageous, and smart. Steady and affectionate, they make excellent pets for families with children. If properly socialized, these hounds do well with other dogs. However, they should be supervised when around non-canine pets, because these hounds consider all minor pets as their prey.
